The course is intended to run from August/September onwards - all things being equal and with sufficient support from players/students.
It is designed with a particular kinds of players in mind. Namely the following:
- Young musicians at secondary school/6th form college/FE college who have some background in playing, have achieved at least a grade 3 standard and who may regard the course as a step in the right direction as regards a musical career...
- Players of all ages who have some background in playing an instrument and would like to take it further; especially if they have little or no experience of playing Jazz (or perhaps other Popular Music styles), or playing in big bands or improvising. All of these things!
- Players with a Classical or Brass Band background that would like to learn more about playing in said genres.
- Generally - musical instruments that are associated with big bands: Guitar, Trumpet, Trombone, Saxophone, keyboard, bass and drum kit.
All applicants will be assessed before they are offered a place. If necessary, our teachers will offer their help in getting any player to the right point in their development before making a second application.
Whilst the intentions behind the course are serious, there should also be a lot of fun for anyone taking part.
If you are thinking of joining the course and would like to recieve updates then please complete our survey and send it back.
Thank you
