Outline: DGKII rehearsals are a continuation of bandskool’s engagment with the ‘big band’ format as an outlet for opportunity and education. They follow on from the establishment of DGKI as a professional modern ensemble based in Manchester/Northwest England. This is a chance for ‘lesser’ players to develop their musicianship in a supportive environment – both through the fortnightly rehearsals, periodic workshops that bandskool runs and our online resources. Individual instrument lessons are also on offer with our pool of teachers.
Stylistically, DGKII rehearsals etc. tap into a cross section of popular music styles including Jazz, Latin, Funk and more. Emphasis is placed upon improvisation (especially regards soloists and the rhythm section), reading skills and relevant music theory. Horn players also learn the discipline of sectional playing.
So whether you are a ‘horn’ player (Brass/woodwind) or a rhythm section player (guitar – bass – keys – drums – percussion), we would like to hear from you. Don’t delay -join the DGKII rehearsals today!!!
